Sveva Collection is an Italian brand of costume jewellery that stems from the creativity of Sveva Camurati. Born in Milan, she grew up amidst the precious embroidery of her grandmother’s atelier and the tutus of the Dance School at La Scala, but decided to move first to Paris and then to New York.
And it was there that she developed a deep passion for art, studying acting at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. She performed on stage for years before deciding to move on again, travelling around the world in search of inspiration. After South and Central America, Greece, Israel, the Middle East, Africa and India, she ended up back in Milan. And it was here that, in 2005, she started to make her necklaces, creating an unusual, eclectic and lively collection in which she gives material expression with flair and skill to all her experiences and the marvellous places she has visited. Sveva Camurati’s constant research results in luminous and intricate creations: splendid pieces of jewellery that bestow energy and natural elegance on the people who wear them. Each piece is made meticulously in Italy, with passion and a love of craftsmanship and of precious and sometimes unusual materials: fabric flowers, applications of wood and brass, Swarovski crystals and coloured plastic...
A constant presence is Bakelite, a material of which she is particularly fond: widely utilized in the 1930s, it has now come back into vogue, partly because it is durable and can take on a multitude of different nuances.
Her eclecticism, her taste shaped by a wide range of influences, of artistic and ethnic echoes and references, finds expression in totally hand-made accessories, able to embellish even the simplest of outfits. No piece is ever like another. Sveva Camurati’s bijoux are striking and unexpected, intertwined with the light textures of woven materials and playing with the chromatic contrasts generated by colours, metals, fabrics, resins and semiprecious stones. Pieces of great personality and daring, but always characterized by a sophisticated and refined taste.
