Simone Crestani

Simone Crestani is one of the most interesting and original glass artists on the national and international scene. Born in 1984 at Marostica, in the province of Vicenza, he was fascinated from a very early age by the magic of incandescent glass, whse secrets he started to learn in the workshop of the famous master glassblower Massimo Lunardon.

Glass / Crystal

He frequented the furnaces of the great glassworkers on Murano, but very soon developed a style all of his own, specializing in the working of clear borosilicate glass. In 2010 he opened the Atelier Crestani, where he continues his original work of research and innovation.

The poetic and sculptural creations of this talented craftsman, with their always powerful aesthetic impact, are moving and surprising in their extraordinary fantasy and expressive force. The infinite variety of nature, of plant and animal forms, inspires his magical world, a celebration of lightness and transparency in always new and original creations of crystalline purity and beauty.

Simone Crestani uses the lampworking technique to make these objects out of clear borosilicate glass in a more sculptural manner than is traditional, allowing him to create works that may be large in size but still exquisite in their meticulous representation of the details. In his poetic universe a sense of wonder holds sway, but the fantastic invention is never disconnected from the elegance and absolute purity of his style.

A speciality of the Atelier Crestani is the range of poetic and spectacular animals in clear glass, sculpted with extreme and painstaking realism, and of trees with a myriad luminous transparencies. The collection of bottles with fanciful tops in the shape of hunting trophies is refined and elegant in its purity.

Today his production has an international reputation, and is highly regarded for its high level of craftsmanship and unique technique, mastered with extreme skill and enhanced by a refined and sophisticated design. Particularly appreciated in the United States, Simone Crestani is periodically invited to be an artist in residence and teacher at prestigious academies and schools of glassworking all over the world, bringing to them his personal and contemporary vision of this fascinating material.
