Ernesto Carati

The Ambrogio Carati atelier has been producing brass and bronze furnishings and accessories for four generations. First established in 1894 by Enrico Carati, in 1938 his sons Ernesto and Vincenzo took over the business, passing on the bronzesmith’s art to son and nephew Ambrogio Carati. Today, it is Ambrogio’s children, Ernesto and Francesco, who are the fourth generation of the family in the trade.

The experience and expertise acquired in over a century of production enables the atelier to preserve the more traditional techniques of working brass and bronze while also embracing the most advanced technology in the sector. The atelier’s services include the manufacture and supply of furnishings and accessories for homes and hotels, prototyping, restoration and repair and polishing.

The atelier has received various awards and honours and in 2010 was registered as a “Bottega Storica Milanese”.

Its name appears in various guides to craft ateliers in Milan, such as the Botteghe artigiane, 250 indirizzi dell’artigianato d’autore a Milano e dintorni (Editoriale Domus), Le mie amiche dicono che... (Electa), and Milano su misura – Milan Made to Measure (Gruppo Editoriale).
