Paolo Scafora

The craft shoemaking business of the Scafora family began in Naples in 1956. Since then, with the help of a team of selected craftsmen, founder Gennaro Scafora and his son Paolo, after whom the company is named, have been creating high quality shoes, both ready-to-wear and custom-made.

Leather Goods / Shoe-making

They employ absolutely exquisite leathers, such as French veal, American alligator and cordovan, as well as precious cachemire, ermine and mink for the linings: each shoe is stitched according to acknowledged traditional techniques such as Bologna, Goodyear, Norwegian and Tyrolean.
Each creation is hand painted and enriched by sophisticated antique finishings and nuances of rare workmanship. Paolo Scafora, born in 1974 in Naples, travelled to Milan at 20 years old, in order to perfect his shoe-pattern making techniques: combining his manual skills with inspired designs, he created custom-made shoes which soon enough became world renown. He then felt the need to put his curiosity to the test internationally, working in numerous countries all the way to Australia, only to return a few years later to his beloved Naples.

Entering Scafora’s workshop and smelling the leather, hearing the tapping and swishing sounds of hammers and awls is a true sensory experience: Paolo and his three brothers are picking up their father Gennaro’s heritage, following a tradition in which machinery and industrial gear are strictly banned. To achieve high productivity and meet the most daring requests coming from all over the world without betraying their craft vocation, the workshop is divided into "islands": groups of specialized artisans dedicated to a specific process. In each Paolo Scafora shoe you can find love for tradition, passion for refinement and attention to details.
