Piero Mazzotti and Androulla Ioannou

Piero Mazzotti was born in Faenza in 1957. After graduating as a Master of Arts at “G. Ballardini” Institute in Faenza, he trained for a long time working in renowned ceramic workshops in Italy, Greece, Scotland and USA. Since 2014 he teaches at “Tonito Emiliani” technical institute and over the years he held many workshops on porcelain slip casting at MIC, in Faenza.

Androulla Ioannou was born in Limassol, Cyprus, in 1957. After a degree in Mathematics at the University of Athens, she moved to Faenza, where she attended “G. Ballardini” Art Institute. Her artworks were featured in prestigious exhibitions, such as “Ceramica Storia di Donne” at Faenza's MIC (2010), “Niente di meno/Nothing Less, 1945-2000: La forza del design femminile” (2011), “W. Women in Italian design” at Milan's Triennale (2016). She won the third prize at Aveiro's 15th International Biennale of Ceramic Art in 2021.

In 1987, these two ceramicists founded FOS Ceramiche, a workshop specializing in artistic and design porcelain items. Here, they craft finely designed home décors and furnishings, inspired by Nature's textures and shapes: unique pieces, vases and sculptures which stand out for their bright white sculpted or polished surfaces, sometimes enriched by metallic oxides, gold or platinum, which give each item a touch of aristocratic grace. The workshop is renowned for its attention to detail, the desire to amaze and the versatility of its products, serially produced, but with hand-crafted finishings. These creations are capable of epitomizing ancient techniques, but with a contemporary style. Each piece is unique, the result of a constant research in the fields of art, crafts and design.
