Massimo Pieroni

Massimo Pieroni was born in Rome in 1964 and soon began his journey through the wonders of cinema.

Theater - Cinema - Opera

From a very young age he started working alongside his father Bruno in the family business, internationally renowned for its production of headgear, armours, accessories and stage costumes, coming in contact and collaborating with leading costume designers and directors in the fields of theatre and cinema. The activity was founded in the Forties and quickly rose to fame collaborating with historic show-business tailors. The exquisite and accurate work carried out by Pieroni greatly contributed to fuelling the myth of Cinecittà. Over the years, the relationship between Hollywood and Laboratorio Pieroni became increasingly strong and fruitful, to the point where in almost every period film, Italian or international, you can find a Pieroni headdress or armour. Thus, within this fascinating world of wonderful costumes, shining armours and fantastic headwear, Massimo Pieroni found his calling and decided to carry on this unique and invaluable family heritage.

In 2015 he collaborated with Rome’s IED (European Design Institute) holding a course on the History and elaboration of headwear; in 2016 he taught a course in “Costume Accessories” at Verona’s Accademia per l’Opera Italiana (Italian Opera Academy), and in 2019 he taught at the “Accademia di Costume” (Costume Academy) in Verona and the “Accademia Costume & Moda” (Costume and Fashion Academy) in Rome. The Master’s skill, careful choice of materials, passion and knowledge of techniques handed down through generations, always resulted in excellent products, making Massimo Pieroni and his historical atelier a reference point in the world of cinema and show business. In the past two years, he provided headwear for the movies “Cruella”, “The Last Duel” and “House of Gucci”.
