Elisabetta D'Arienzo

Elisabetta d’Arienzo was born in Salerno in 1987 and grew up in Vietri sul Mare. Here, in the family's workshop, she learned the art of ceramics.

Ceramics

Sculptor, ceramicist and illustrator, she followed her passion earning an Art School diploma and going on to study sculpture at Naples’ Fine Art Academy. The need to deepen her artistic representation drew her towards illustration: she specialized at the “Scuola Italiana di Comix” (Italian Comics school) where she improved her style and colouring techniques. The passion for human beauty in all its shapes, strengths and flaws, led her to draw sinuous shapes, where each figure’s strong distinctive feature is to be found in its emotional state rather than exterior looks. In 2016 she started teaching ceramic moulding and decoration at Associazione B.A.R. and at Vietri sul Mare’s cultural centre “Fabrica”; in 2022 she held ceramic workshops for individuals with intellectual and neuro-developement disorders with Salerno’s Co-op Icaro.

She won the first prize at Appignano’s national contest for under-35 artists and took part in many exhibitions all over Italy. She personally organized the exhibition/event “Sono tazza di te! - 100 smashing women designer” in Vietri in 2022, and in 2020 she planned the event “Pottery in the city”,  an artistic ceramic making performance during “Buongiorno Ceramica”, a national event sponsored by AiCC, Associazione italiana Città della Ceramica (Italian Association of the Cities of Ceramics). She currently works in Vietri sul Mare, exploring new ways for craft ceramic.
